Tween Outfit of the Day – Denim Dungarees

You may remember a few weeks ago Stacey and I posted a tween fashion wishlist, and today we thought we would show you one of the outfits from it that we eventually purchased.

This one was the very last outfit we showed you, but was actually one of Stacey’s favourites from the whole list. It consists of items from BHS, New Look and Next, and if you read on we’ll be talking about it in more detail …

Denim Dungarees
It’s been a long time since I’ve bought denim dungarees for Stacey. When she was a toddler I used to shop at Adams Kids (I miss their stores so much) and they always used to stock lovely dungarees. Since they closed down though, I’ve never found anywhere that sold ones I liked … until now that is!

We came across this gorgeous pair on the BHS website while we were searching for something else, and I just couldn’t help but add them to my basket! They are from the #TammyGirl range, and are mid stonewash with a rip and repair style front and adjustable straps for the ideal fit. When they arrived I noticed that they were a lot darker than they look online, but Stacey loved them anyway so we kept them anyway.

This particular pair of denim dungarees have a side zip fastening, and since Stacey wants to wear them with everything, I’m guessing they must be nice and comfortable!!

My Unicorn Made Me Do It T-Shirt
One of my favourite places to shop for tween fashion is New Look. Everything they sell is bang on trend, washes well and, most importantly, is affordable.

When Stacey and I came across this bright pink t-shirt with a unicorn slogan across the front I just couldn’t resist picking it up for her! It has a round neck, roll sleeves, and a gorgeous lace design on the shoulders. Online it comes up as ‘casual fit’, and I would definitely recommend picking it up in a bigger size than needed if you’re after this as I we’ve found that it’s quite short. That’s fine when Stacey wears it with her denim dungarees, but not so good when she wears it with other things (unless we pop a vest top underneath).

T-Shirt – New Look – £9.99

Sparkly Bracelet & Pandora Ring
My mum picked up this gorgeous stretchy bracelet for Stacey when we went shopping at the end of May. It has three rows of sparkly stones and looks a little more expensive than it is! Stacey loves it and has worn it with pretty much everything she’s worn over the last couple of weeks.

And the ring is a sterling silver Pandora ring in the shape of a princess tiara, with a small cubic zirconia set within it. Stacey saved up her money and bought this herself, so it’s extra special to her!!

Pink Converse
One of Stacey’s friends had outgrown her converse, so she asked Stacey if she would like to have them as they were in her size. And of course Stacey said yes, as she’d been begging for some for ages. (All the tween girls have them, apparently).

This pair are pink, and they have a lace up front, and the ‘All Star’ logo on the inside of each shoe, and at the back. I’d never been sure about whether or not I like converse, but these really suit Stacey and I’m actually considering buying her a pair in a different colour for her birthday in September. It just goes to show that you can change your mind about what you do and don’t like over the years!

Tween Fashion Wishlist – Spring/Summer 2015

I love shopping for tween fashion pieces. Well, I love shopping full stop, but there’s something extra special about picking out things for other people.

Stacey’s at that age now where she really appreciates being bought nice things, and together we’ve come up with a little wishlist of 4 outfits that we hope to be able to buy for her very soon. We hope you like it!

The first outfit is made up from 4 pieces from New Look and H&M, and it’s ideal for those cooler summer days as it consists of a sweatshirt, trousers and basketball shoes. We were thinking that this would be the perfect outfit for Stacey to wear whilst travelling to Great Yarmouth later on this month, as we tend to leave quite early in the morning and it’s usually quite cool.

H&M Sweatshirt with Lace – £5.00
The sweatshirt is a lovely, short style with lace detailing on the shoulders. The back section is slightly longer than the front, and the sleeves have sewn-in turn-ups. I think it would go with lots of different bottoms, like the beige trousers we picked out above, denim shorts and even jeans. It could be a real summer staple!

New Look White Roll Sleeve T-Shirt – £4.99
Stacey loves roll sleeve t-shirts, and this cotton one from New Look is a casual fit with a round neck, so I think it would be great to wear underneath the short sweatshirt. And if it warms up and the sweatshirt needs to come off, the tee will look great on it’s own. Stacey also has lots of other things in her wardrobe that would look good with this.

H&M Beige Stretchy Trousers – £9.99
It’s been a long time since I last bought Stacey any beige trousers, but as soon as I saw these stretchy ones from H&M I just knew that we needed to add them to our tween fashion wishlist … they’re just gorgeous! They have 5 pockets on them, zip fly and up until age 12 they have an adjustable elasticated waist. If we only buy one thing from the list this year it just has to be these.

H&M Patterned Basketball Shoes – £6.00
Stacey’s really in to basketball shoes at the moment, and I have to agree that they look fabulous on! I saw these leopard print patterned ones on the H&M website and wasn’t sure if she’d like them or not, but she really does! These particular ones are lace ups and and they have rubber soles. I think they’d be great for wearing this summer, and they’re on sale too!

The second outfit features 4 pieces from Forever 21 and Next, and again this is definitely something for those cooler summer days or nights. You might think we’re crazy for choosing things like these at this time of year, but living in the UK you have to be prepared for pretty much every type of weather!

Forever 21 Bow Print Top – £5.00
I added this gorgeous bow print top to our tween fashion wishlist as it reminded me of one I’d seen and loved from J Crew a few years ago! At £5.00 though, this one is considerably cheaper. The top is made from soft and stretchy heathered cotton jersey and has slightly puffed long sleeves and a gorgeous cascading bow print all over it. It’s just lovely.

Forever 21 Navy Jeggings – £10.00
If there’s one thing that Stacey just has to have in her wardrobe, it’s jeggings! She likes them as they look a lot like jeans, but are more comfortable. We love this navy pair from Forever 21 as they look like they would go with absolutely tonnes of tops that we already have at home, so she would be bound to get a lot of wear out of them. They have a mock fly and front pockets, and proper ones at the back … perfect.

Forever 21 Hooded Denim Jacket – £19.00
We love this denim jacket from Forever 21 as it’s very different to the other jackets that Stacey has in her wardrobe. It features sweater-sleeves that give kids a little extra mobility compared to regular denim sleeves and has buttons down the front. There’s also a hood which is a bonus. After all, how many times have you gone out on a sunny day only for it to start raining unexpectedly?!

Converse Chuck Taylor Hi (Unisex) – from Next – £27.00-£53.00
Stacey’s friend recently passed on a pair of pink converse trainers like these that she had outgrown, and Stacey absolutely loves them, hence her wanting another pair! This time she’s chosen a navy pair, and has also gone for the same style as she knows that they’re super comfy and look great.

The third outfit we’ve picked out for our tween fashion wishlist is a little more grown up than the others, but I think it would suit Stacey fantastically. It features 4 items from BHS, New Look and Accessorize, and is great for the warmer summer nights.

BHS Black Lace Back Tee – £8.00-£10.00
I don’t think you can ever go wrong with black, no matter how old you are. And one of the loveliest black tops for tweens I’ve seen this season is from BHS. It’s plain black at the front, and then the shoulders and back of the garment is covered in a gorgeous black lace. It has short sleeves with turn-up cuffs and a round neck. Very glam!

New Look Blue Authentic Ripped Denim Shorts – £12.99
It wouldn’t be a summer tween fashion wishlist without featuring a pair of ripped denim shorts, and we absolutely adore this pair from New Look. They’re a casual fit with zip and button fly fastening, belt loops and ripped detail down each side. We both agree that they would actually look really nice with most of the tops we’ve mentioned in this post, so they’d be bound to get a lot of wear if we were to buy them.

New Look Black Leather Chelsea Boots – £34.99
Chelsea Boots are still very much in fashion this year, and we love this black leather pair with a gold side buckle. They’re quite pricey compared to the boots I usually buy for Stacey, but I think they compliment this outfit really well, and once she moves to secondary school in September she will probably need a better quality pair than we usually go for anyway. I buy a lot of New Look shoes and they always last for ages.

Accessorize Ornate Cut Out Shield Pendant Necklace – £6.00
I think a more ‘grown up’ outfit most definitely needs some cute accessories to go with it, and we love this simple but elegant necklace with an ornate shield pendant with small resin stones, diamante detailing and intricate cut-out parts. It has a long chain as well, which is perfect for the upcoming festival season!

And the fourth outfit is one that I think is wonderful for sunny days out at the park! It is made up of 3 items from BHS and New Look and has lots of Stacey’s favourite colour in it: PINK!

New Look ‘My Unicorn Made Me Do It’ T-Shirt – £9.99
With Stacey still being as crazy about pink clothing as she was when she was a toddler, I had to make sure that I suggested something that represented that. And what better than this adorable t-shirt from New Look with the slogan ‘My Unicorn Made Me Do It’ on the front?! It ticks loads of boxes for me too as it has roll sleeves, a round neck and gorgeous lace detailing on the shoulders. What more could a mummy and daughter ask for?

BHS Mid Stonewash Denim Dungarees – £15.00-£19.00
Aww, I used to dress my little Stacey in short denim dungarees every single Summer when she was younger, but over the past few years I’ve not found many styles of them that I like. These ones from BHS are right up my street though, and I think they’d look fantastic with the unicorn tee! They feature a rip and repair style on the legs, and have adjustable straps for the perfect fit. We love them.

New Look Pink Double Tongue Lace Up Trainers – £10.99
I know, I know, we’ve already picked out two pairs of trainers similar to these in this post, but these ones were too cute not to feature! They’re from New Look so they’re super affordable and they are pink on the outside and have a floral print lining. Another perfect shoe choice for the summer months. Just gorgeous.

Tween Outfit of the Day – Totally Tribal

A couple of weeks ago, I published a ‘Tween Outfit of the Day’ post where my beautiful daughter Stacey showed off a gorgeous coral combo that she’d been rocking. And since it seemed to go down really well with you guys, today we thought we’d do another one!

Today’s outfit is one that I treated her to ready for our annual holiday to Great Yarmouth at the end of the month, but she loved so much that she just couldn’t wait to wear it … tribal print.

So, without any further ado, let me tell you all about this weeks tween outfit of the day!

Belted Tribal Print Dress
I actually came across this gorgeous girls belted tribal print dress by accident. I was browsing the Forever 21 website for some new clothes for myself, and when I couldn’t find anything I liked I decided to have a quick look at their kids section and it jumped out at me straight away! I’d never bought anything for Stacey from there before so I was really pleased when it arrived and was just as good quality wise as their ladies clothes are.

The short sleeved dress is white with an all over tribal print in lots of different shades of pink, purple and orange. It’s really vibrant and when she wore it earlier people commented on how lovely and eye-catching it was straight away. It has an elasticated waist and there are three buttons sewn on to the left shoulder for detail. It also has 2 front patch pockets and comes with a skinny faux leather belt that I’m sure you’ll agree looks lovely. Stacey’s not usually one for wearing belts, but she seems to like this one.

The dress is fairly short and I can see this being something that Stacey wears a lot over the next few months as the weather (hopefully) gets a lot warmer.

Belted Tribal Print Babydoll Dress – Forever 21 – £12.00

Sandals
You might remember I recently mentioned that Stacey was in need of some new sandals? Well, last week we found a pair that she absolutely loved in Primark. They’re not really the sort of thing I usually buy, but they suit Stacey’s style and actually go quite well with the tribal print dress!

The sandals are a similar style to a gladiator shoe, and have an elasticated rose gold ankle strap, snake print straps a little further down the foot, and a glittery, textured toe strap. They slip-on easily and zip up at the back. I know they won’t be to everyone’s taste, but if you’re after something a little different for your tween this summer then they’re absolutely perfect.

These sandals are from the Young Dimension range at Primark.

Pandora Ring
To finish the look, Stacey chose to wear her Princess Tiara ring from Pandora. If you read our last tween fashion post then you’ll have already seen this one before, but just incase you missed it, I’ll tell you a little about it …

The ring is made from sterling silver with a tiara and cubic zirconia set within it. I think it looks absolutely gorgeous on its own, but it’s actually designed so you can wear some of the rings from their stackable collection underneath it. Stacey only has this one at the moment as she saved up her birthday and Christmas money to buy it, but she has her eye on loads of others, so it probably won’t be long until she has more!

Tween Outfit of the Day – Crazy for Coral

Recently my tween daughter Stacey has been lucky enough to fill her wardrobe full of nice, new Summer clothes, so we thought we would create some ‘Tween Outfit of the Day’ posts so she can show you what she’s been rocking!

We’re starting today with a colour that both myself and Stacey are a little crazy for at the moment (if you read my post on Festival Outfit Ideas last week then you’ll probably have realised this already) … coral.

Coral Tops
Layering has been a big thing for years now, and it never seems to go out of fashion. I love that these two Summer tops that my mum bought Stacey for Easter this year are perfect for layering, and look great both together, and with other items of clothing from her wardrobe.

The knitted top that Stacey is wearing is absolutely stunning. It’s a lovely, bright coral shade, but it has tiny flecks of white running through it as well. It has short sleeves and is a cropped style, which is why Stacey likes to wear it over the top of a long vest.

The vest top that Stacey is wearing underneath is just a basic, solid colour one that is slightly longer than the ones she usually wears. I want to get her a similar one in white as well, as I think the knitted top would look fab over a contrasting colour.

Denim Shorts
Stacey’s shorts are actually a pair that my mum bought her for Easter last year. They’re from H&M and are a light denim blue with a worn detail on the front. They have an adjustable elasticated waist and sewn-in turn-ups at the hems. Stacey absolutely loves them and wore them loads last Summer, as well as almost every single day the sun has shone this year!

Denim Shorts – H&M (last years style) – similar here – £12.99

Bronze Sandals
Another item that Stacey decided to dig out from last year are these stunning bronze sandals from one of our favourite footwear retailers, Shoe Zone. They’re really pretty and have a butterfly and flower detailing down the front of each one. As you can see from the picture, Stacey has worn these to death, as she says they’re the most comfortable pair of sandals she’s ever owned! I’m gutted that they don’t do them in the next size up for her, otherwise I would have replaced them straight away. Ah well, never mind. We’ll hopefully find another pair just as pretty soon.

Bronze Sandals – Shoe Zone – £9.99

Pandora Ring
To finish the look, Stacey decided to wear her most treasured possession – her Pandora Princess Tiara Ring. It’s made from sterling silver with a tiara and cubic zirconia set within it. She absolutely loves it because she pooled together the money she got for her birthday and Christmas and bought it herself. I think it makes it extra special, and I plan to buy her a smaller Pandora ring for her next birthday so she can wear it underneath. But shh, don’t tell anyone!
