5 Cosy Autumn Outfit Ideas

With Autumn well and truly upon us, I thought I’d put together a post on 5 Cosy Autumn Outfit Ideas for if you’re looking for a little inspiration for what to wear this fall. I hope you like them …

The first of the 5 outfits I’ve put together would be ideal to wear for lunch with friends, shopping trips or even just for the school run, and I think it looks lovely and sophisticated. It consists of a black textured top from Select, which has 3/4 sleeves with a beautiful crochet detail on them and a pair of plain black jeggings from New Look which have a cute little zip pocket on each side. I then chose a pair of black, high heeled ankle boots from Brantano, which are ruched at the front and have cross straps and buckle trims. They have a lovely, classic look to them, and I think they’d go with lots of different outfits.

Next, I picked out a gorgeous wine coloured coat with contrasting black PU sleeves from a company called SheIn. It has a double lapel and a half zipper, and I think the colour compliments an all-black outfit really well. As it tends to get quite cool during the Autumn months I added a plain black snood in a simple knitted design from Accessorize and a pair of beautiful, fleece lined leather gloves from Gloves on Hand. I have really small, child-like hands and these are one of the only companies I’ve found who actually do gloves in my size. They’re brilliant! And last but not least I thought a black Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac with silver handware and fringing would finish off this look just perfectly. What do you guys think?

Blouse | Jeans | Cape | Boots | Necklace

During the Autumn months I always wear a lot of browns and beige’s, and the second outfit I’ve put together really pays homage to that. It consists of a simple, yet elegant long sleeved pussybow blouse from Dorothy Perkins, which I teamed with a pair of indigo coloured super skinny jeans and a beige fine knitted cape with a tasseled hem from River Island. I love that the cape has made a comeback this year, as it’s something you can just sort of ‘throw on’ over your outfit and look super stylish in a second.

Many of my friends tell me they’re scared to wear capes though because they have no idea how to style them. My top tips would be to make sure you try one on in store before you commit to buying so you don’t pick one up that’s too big, and steer clear of using a shoulder bag when you wear one. It just looks too fussy. I’d recommend either carrying a stylish clutch or buying one with large pockets at the front so you can stick all your essentials in there and be good to go.

Next, I found a pair of gorgeous brown biker-style ankle boots at Brantano that I thought would look fantastic with the rest of the outfit. They have buckle details at the top of the boot and at the ankle and they zip up at the back, which I think is really cute. They also have a cleated sole, which is perfect for this time of year as they’d give some additional grip when it’s icy outside. And finally I added a gorgeous silver hammered ring necklace from Lily Charmed. I’m really in to hammered jewellery at the moment and this is one of my favourite pieces. I think this outfit would be perfect for the many Christmas shopping trips us ladies like to make at this time of year!

My next Autumn outfit is one I picked out for those lovely, rainy days we have here in the UK, and it would be perfect to wear when you have to walk the dog or pick the kids up from school. When Stacey was at primary school I always found it would start pouring it down with rain a few minutes before I had to head out to pick her up, even if it had been lovely and sunny all day before that!

For this outfit I chose a gorgeous super-soft knitted top in a light grey colour, and paired it with some gorgeous black jeans which were both from Topshop. I then found an absolutely amazing khaki canvas jacket from Quiz which has black PU sleeves and a faux fur hood. It’s very much like the jacket I picked up last year but a little more unique, so I really like it.

I’d recommend wearing wellies if you’re going to be anywhere sludgy, and love this black pair from Brantano as they look more like a regular pair of boots than wellingtons. They feature a small heel and buckle at the top of the boot and I think they’re just fab! And since it’s likely to be really cold if it’s raining I’d add this black faux fur pom pom beanie from Amazon and a pair of cable knit gloves from Accessorize to the outfit for warmth. Brr.

This last week quite a few of you have told me that you enjoy walking, so I thought I’d add an Autumn outfit that would be just perfect for you guys to wear while you’re out and about! I started by picking out a pink Karrimor short sleeved t-shirt from Sports Direct that has a round neck, and then I added a pair of black thick padded trousers for warmth and a matching waterproof jacket which has a foldaway hood for when it’s dry outside.

For footwear I would suggest wearing a pair of special trekking socks to ensure the feet stayed protected, and I love the black boots that I picked out from Brantano. They’re lace up ones that have a fur trim around the top of the boot and a fleecy lining to help keep toes toasty warm. I’d also recommend this pair of thick black alpine gloves from Amazon to keep the cold away from your fingers as well.

And finally, you don’t want to be taking a handbag on a walk with you, so I picked out a black and pink backpack to match the rest of the outfit. I think it looks great and would be sure to keep all of your belongings safe no matter how far you’re walking!

And last but certainly not least I’ve put together a gorgeous outfit that I could definitely see myself wearing if it happened to snow this year! I’d start with this cute light pink marl shirt from H&M as a base layer and team it with a pair of mid-wash denim jeans from Diesel, and a super-cosy duffle gilet from a brand called Fat Face, who I really love at the moment. It has a faux fur hood and is lined inside to keep you nice and warm when you’re wearing it.

On my feet I would wear a cute pair of grey ankle boots from Skechers, which have a sock-like ankle part with buckle fastening. They’re really unique and I don’t think I’ve ever come across anything like them when I’ve been out shoe shopping before. I’d probably add a pair of Yaktrax to the bottom of the boots though as I have a back problem called scoliosis, and often find it difficult to stand upright when it’s snowy or icy outside. Yaktrax aid me by gripping onto the ice and snow underfoot and stops me from toppling over. I love them and wouldn’t be without mine nowadays. It’s so nice not to have to stay indoors when everyone else is out having fun!

On my hands I would wear a pair of grey cable knit gloves from Accessorize (can you tell I’m loving the cable knits this year?) and I’d just have to rock a pair of cute grey earmuffs! The ones in the image I created above are from KitSound, and they can connect to your iPod, smartphone or MP3 player so you can listen to your music while looking super stylish at the same time … how cool is that?! And finally, I would carry this gorgeous satchel handbag in a light grey faux-suede that I found it in River Island.

5 Autumn Fashion Trends I’ll Be Rocking This Year

With summer coming to an end, I’ve been checking out the new arrivals sections of my favourite stores on an almost daily basis. Today I thought I’d talk a little bit about this years Autumn Fashion Trends, and show you some of the pieces I’m hoping to pick up for myself.

I’ve picked out 5 of the hottest trends, but I think that many of the pieces I’ve picked out from each could easily be mixed and matched with each other to create some really gorgeous outfits …

Stripes always make up a fundamental part of my Autumn wardrobe, and this year will be no exception. The Breton tee is the ultimate styling prop year in, year out, and it currently forms one half of this season’s hottest coupling alongside the denim mini skirt, providing a chic, minimalist vibe for any day of the week!

1. Navy & Grey Stripe Boxy Knit – £69
My favourite of all the striped tops I’ve seen this season has got to be this navy and grey stripe boxy knit from Mint Velvet in a cashmere mix. It has blocked colour sleeves and a beautiful button detailing on the shoulders. I think it would look gorgeous with either indigo jeans or black jeggings and a pair of elegant black boots. It’s the type of top that makes weekend dressing a synch!

2. Open Front Striped Waterfall Cardigan – £25
I’ve always been a big fan of cardigans, so when I saw this open front striped waterfall cardigan in M&S last week I just knew I had to include it in this feature! It’s made of 100% pure cotton and features grey and white horizontal stripes in different sizes. Again, I think this would look great with a pair of indigo jeans and some tan boots, and would make a casual outfit look just that little bit smarter.

3. Relaxed Stripe Shirt – £32
I love this monochrome shirt from Warehouse, constructed from a lightweight woven fabric. It has a peak collar, button-through front, two breast pockets, short sleeves and an all-over stripe design. I think this would look gorgeous with a pair of black leather leggings that I have in my wardrobe, and a pair of high shoe boots.

4. Striped Crew Neck Top – £26
Another favourite I’ve found at Warehouse is this white striped crew neck top constructed from a beautiful lightweight knit. I think this would work well dressed up with a black leather mini and killer heels and dressed down with a denim pelmet skirt and boat shoes. A truly versatile piece that I really need to add to mu Autumn wardrobe.

5. Wide Neck Striped Sweatshirt – £9.99
I also love this over-sized sweatshirt with a wide neckline from H&M. I think this would be the perfect top to throw on when it’s ‘that time of the month’ and you’re feeling a little icky. I’d team this with a pair of ripped jeans for an ultimate laid back look.

It’s a well known fact that denim never goes out of fashion. And it’s a good thing too as I couldn’t imagine not being able to wear jeans day in, day out. This Autumn denim is set to have a serious moment thanks to its laidback and ultra-wearable nature. In the past the focus has always been placed on how to dress denim up, but this season it’s all about using denim to dress down the rest of your outfit. For example, why not throw on a casual denim western shirt over a super sexy black leather mini? I guarantee it’ll look gorgeous!

01. Denim Shirt Jacket – ~~£45~~ £30
I have to admit that (until recently) I’d never really been a fan of the denim shirt, but I absolutely love this one from Warehouse! And I think that’s because it looks more like a smart jacket than a shirt. I would team this with a plain white tee, beige jeans and flats to create a laid-back Autumn look.

02. Roll Sleeve Denim Shirt Dress – £24.99
One thing I’m loving right now is this roll sleeve denim shirt dress from New Look. It has a button down front detail, collared neck, roll sleeves and two front pockets. I think this would be easy to dress up or down, depending on the occasion, and I could definitely see me wearing this as both an autumn fashion staple and a summer dress, it’s so versatile!

03. Denim Pelmet Skirt – £26
I mentioned the denim pelmet skirt before, and this one from Warehouse is my favourite of all the ones I’ve seen so far! It has an A-line cut (which is very in this season), two side pockets and a concealed zip fastening at the back. I think this skirt would work well with so many different tops, my favourite being a white cable knit sweater.

When you shop for skirts, you might have trouble finding what you want. It can be hard to locate skirts that are comfortable, multi-functional and durable. If you want a low-maintenance and high-use skirt, choose denim. Denim skirts work as parts of any outfit and never go out of style. They look great with sneakers when you want to be casual or heels when you are trying to appear more professional. Adding tights or jackets can make them comfortable in cooler weather. You can even breathe new life into denim skirts you have had for a while. Just take them out of your closet and embroider them or add other embellishments. Soon you will have what looks like a brand new denim-skirt without the need to go clothes shopping again.

04. Loren Distressed Rip Knee Skinny Jeans – £25
I picked up this pair of distressed rip knee skinny jeans from Boohoo a couple of months ago and I’m absolutely loving them! They are the perfect thing to throw on with an over-sized top when you don’t have to be anywhere special, and they are amazingly comfortable. I need to pick up a second pair soon.

05. MOTO Grey Jamie Jeans – £40
I also think that grey jeans are going to be everywhere this Autumn. I’ve already seen lots of girls wearing them and they look fab! My favourites so far have got to be these MOTO Grey Jamie Jeans from Topshop, and I would team them with a black and white layered top and some tan boots for a smart-casual sort of look.

Every year I get super excited about buying new knitwear. I don’t think there’s anything as nice when the weather starts getting colder. This season it’s all about cable knit sweaters and gorgeous knitted dresses, but don’t overlook the comfy, over-sized jumper either – they’re perfect for when you’re just chilling at home!

01. Cahla Cream Open Front Cardigan – £23.99
I’ve mentioned before that I always dig out the cardigans when Autumn arrives, and since I could do with a few new ones I’ve been looking around to see what I could find. I came across this gorgeous open front cardigan at Pilot a couple of weeks back and I really like it. It’s very girly and I love how soft it is. I would team this with a pair of skinny jeans and Chelsea boots for a lovely laid back look.

02. Ripple Stitch Bodycon Dress – £45
A knitted dress is the perfect day-to-night piece if you’re heading straight out for drinks from the office, and I love this bodycon version from Warehouse! It features a round neckline, short sleeves, all-over ripple stitch finish and an exposed zipper at the back. I think this would look fab with flats in the daytime and heels at night. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

03. Superdry Pink Cable Knit Jumper – £50
Cable knits are everywhere this season, and my daughter Stacey has her eye on this pink Superdry version which is available from Next. I like that it is made in the classic cable knit design, and it features a twin button fastening on the shoulder, ribbed cuffs and hem and is finished with an embroidered Superdry logo at the bottom left hand side.

04. Cream Chunky Cable Knit Cropped Jumper – ~~£24.99~~ £14
I also love this chunky cable knit cropped jumper from New Look. It’s made from a beautiful soft knitted fabric and I could see myself wearing this with a pair of burgundy skinny jeans and ankle boots for a quick and easy autumn fashion look.

05. Stone Embellished Wings Jumper – ~~£22.99~~ £8.99
And finally for knitwear I’ve got my eye on this gorgeous stone coloured jumper from Quiz, which has an intricate embellished wings design on the front. I think this would look stunning with the ripped jeans I mentioned above, and my favourite pair of black ankle boots from Shoe Zone!

I have to admit, I wasn’t a big fan of the whole 70’s vibe this summer. The pieces on offer at all my usual retail haunts just didn’t do anything for me. So when I heard it was going to be sticking around for another season I was slightly disappointed. It turns out I shouldn’t have been though – the Autumn collections are so much more me, and I can’t wait to give some 70’s inspired outfits a go!

01. Stone Faux Fur Gilet – £24.99
I’ve owned many faux fur gilets over the years so I’m super excited to see them making a comeback this fall! They’re great for layering and I think I’d wear this with the gold metallic fine knit shell top I’ve mentioned below, a denim pelmet skirt and a pair of tan ankle boots. It’s just the perfect piece for the new season.

02. Pink Paisley Print Shirt Dress – £50
My favourite 70’s inspired piece at the mo has got to be this pink paisley print shirt dress from River Island! It comes with a belt to the waist and turn up sleeves. I could definitely see me wearing this all autumn long. I’d pair it with a pair of block heel shoes for that total 70’s vibe!

03. Gold Metallic Fine Knit Shell Top – £12.99
I have to be honest and say I never thought I’d be considering picking up a shell top, but I absolutely love this one from New Look. It’s a sleeveless top in a metallic finish with rounded neckline and a casual fit. It’s just stunning.

04. Tan Suedette Zip Front Skirt – £12.99
Another item from New Look now (incase you hadn’t guessed, their Autumn collection is right up my street) is this tan skirt in a soft suedette finish. It has a zip front detail and flared design. I could imagine this working well with a white shell top and platform heels or the cream chunky cable knit cropped jumper I mentioned above. I love it.

05. Tan Suede Block Heel Boots – £39.99
You guys know how much I love my shoes and boots, and this pair of tan suede block heel boots from New Look have been calling out to me for a while now – I just have to have them in my collection. They’re made from real suede, and have a little tassel on the zippers. I don’t have any other boots like these and I think they’d go well with so many of the pieces I’ve mentioned in this post.

This summer I’ve been reaching for clothes in bright, summery orange and apricot shades, so I was over the moon when I found out that this season’s must-wear colour was set to be bold rusty tones! They can work well for any occasion and I can see my wardrobe filling up with shade pretty quickly …

01. Lace-Insert Top – £95
I’ve not shopped at Reiss in a good few years now, but I’m absolutely loving this brick-red top with black lace insert that they have in stock at the moment! It has a round neckline, short sleeves and a keyhole back detail. I would pair this with a black leather mini and killer black heels for the perfect date night outfit!

02. Tie Waist Roll Sleeve Midi Shirt Dress – £24.99
If you’re looking to add the rust tone to your work wardrobe, then I think this roll sleeve midi shirt dress from New Look would be ideal. It has a tie waist, button front fastening and a collared neck. Wear with court shoes or flats to the office, and pop on a pair of tassled heels to turn it into a gorgeous evening dress.

03. Pussybow Wrap Blouse – £32
I’ve always been a fan of the pussybow blouse, so when I saw this pussybow wrap blouse in River Island earlier this week I just knew I had to add it to my post! It taps nicely into the 70’s trend I talked about above, and I could see myself wearing this with a pair of black culottes or flared trousers on a night out with the girls. It’s also perfect for the office.

04. Longline V Neck Tee – £12
If you’re looking for something a little more casual then I would recommend this Longline V Neck Tee from New Look. It is made from a gorgeous jersey material and has a small turn-up detail on the sleeves. I’d pick this up to wear with my ripped jeans when I’m just having a lazy day around the house.

05. Tassled Kimono – £22
And last but certainly not least I’m hoping to get my hands on this gorgeous rust toned tassled kimono, which is also from New Look. I’ve been looking for a kimono that looks more ‘autumny’ than all the others in my wardrobe, and this fits the bill nicely. I’d wear this with a simple black vest top and jeans or jeggings and a pair of Chelsea boots for a casual look that would work well both at home and away.

Back to School 2015 – M&S Sports Kit Review

With the new school year starting in just a few short weeks, you might be starting to think about picking up some new school uniform. So today I thought I’d talk to you about the wonderful Sports Kit that M&S kindly sent over for the kids to try.

Girls school uniform and sports kit at M&S goes up to age 16, which I was really impressed with. A lot of the places I usually shop only seem to cater for children who are still at Primary School, which is super annoying!

We picked out three things for Stacey to try : a pack of two white t-shirts, a pair of joggers and a hooded sweatshirt. The trainers with velcro straps she’s wearing in my pictures are from Shoe Zone.

2 Pack Unisex Pure Cotton T-Shirts – from £5.00
I think this 2 pack of PE T-shirts offers great value for money. They are available in 3 different colours – red, white and blue – and have short sleeves and a crew neck. I think they look really smart, and even after a couple of washes they’ve stayed white and haven’t gone dull or grey-looking. I think this shows that they are really good quality t-shirts.

Stacey is quite tall for her age – and these fit her really well, as you can see -but they may come up a little too big on smaller children. It’s not something that would bother me, as I always like her school uniform to fit for the whole year, and not just for the first couple of terms, but I realise that not everyone is the same so I thought I would mention that.

Girls Navy Cotton Rich Joggers – from £7.00
Now, Stacey isn’t usually a fan of jogging bottoms (or any type of sports wear if I’m being 100% honest), but she was over the moon with this pair of navy joggers. She’s actually worn them quite a lot this past week! Available in black and navy, these joggers are perfect for school, and running around at home. They have an elasticated waist, 2 pockets and wide waistband.

Again, I’m really impressed with the quality – the joggers are lovely and soft, and they must be comfortable because Stacey’s not complained about them once, and she always makes it known when something isn’t comfortable! I noticed that a lot of people on the M&S website were complaining that these were way too big, but I think they’re perfect. I always find that when I buy Stacey trousers or sports pants in the correct size they tend to fit nicely around the waist, but are a few inches too short, but the next size up swamps her, but these fit amazingly well – the length is just perfect for her.

Girls Navy Cotton Rich Hooded Sweatshirt – from £8.00
Stacey’s favourite item of clothing we tried out for M&S is most definitely this hooded sweatshirt. She has said that it’s super comfortable, and looks great as well. It’s available in 3 different colours – navy, black and red – and has long sleeves, a zip fastening and a ribbed trim.

I think that the sleeves on this are the perfect length, but it could do with being just a little bit longer in the body. I’m sure you’ll agree that it looks lovely on though, and the quality is just as good as the other items I mentioned above.

I also managed to find some sports kit for Oscar to try out as well, and we picked up some bits for him to try in a 2-3 years. As you can see, they are a little bit too big for him, but he’s only just turned 2 and is quite small for his age so I’m not worried about that at all. He’ll grow in to them soon!

Again, we picked out 3 things for Oscar to try out : a pack of two blue t-shirts, a pack of two joggers and a hooded sweat top. The grey canvas shoes he’s wearing in my pictures are from Primark.

2 Pack Unisex Pure Cotton T-Shirts – from £5.00
These t-shirts are the same as the ones I mentioned above, so I’m not going to go into too much detail, but I wanted to say that I think these look just as nice on Oscar as they do on Stacey, which I think proves they are designed for both boys and girls.

I ordered an age 2-3 for Oscar, and you can see from my pictures that they’re quite big on him. He doesn’t seem to notice though, and loves them. They certainly get a big thumbs up from us!

Navy/Mix 2 Pack Cotton Rich Joggers – from £10.00
This two pack of jogging bottoms comes with one navy pair and one grey pair. They have cuffed hems and elasticated waists, and I think they look really nice on. Again, they’re a little bit long on Oscar, but I quite like the baggy look on him.

The joggers are really good quality and Oscar certainly put them through their paces when we tried them out – he was crawling round on the floor outside, playing in the bushes and even spilled fromage frais down one pair and milk down the other! I’m pleased to say that they washed up fabulously though, and you can’t tell that he got them dirty at all … they look as good as new! I’m so impressed with these and definitely think I’ll buy them again in the future.

Blue Cotton Rich Hooded Sweat Top – from £12.00
And last but certainly not least, Oscar tried out this hooded sweat top in the most gorgeous of blue colours! This particular top has long sleeves and a zip fastening. It’s plain blue on the outside, and then has a pattern on the inside which is really cute.

Of all the sports kit that Oscar tried out, this definitely fits him the best, yet it still has plenty of room in it for growth. I think the colour really suits him, and everyone who has seen him wearing this has commented on how nice he looks and asks where it’s from. Again, the quality of this hooded top is fantastic and I think he’ll get a lot of wear of it over the next year or so.Last weekend the kids really put the M&S Sports kit through its paces – they used some of their outdoor toys to have a mini sports day in our back garden. There was lots of running, jumping, skipping and stretching and, they came in at the end of the afternoon looking just as smart as when they went out (although Oscar was definitely a lot dirtier after all that crawling around on the ground).

Overall I’m really impressed with the M&S Sports Kit. All of the items we tried out washed really well, and nothing shrunk, faded or lost it’s shape at all, which I was really pleased with. They iron super easily as well. I’ll definitely be buying from them again. Way to go M&S!!

Summer Wedding Outfit Ideas 2015

If you’re heading to a Summer Wedding this year you might be wondering what to wear. I’ve put together 5 outfit ideas to help make that decision just a little bit easier, and a lot of the pieces I’ve chosen have actually gone on sale recently, so if you like them to may be able to pick them up at a bargain price! I hope you like them …

Dress / Bag / Shoes / Ring

The first outfit I’ve put together is very feminine. It consists of a gorgeous floral print skater dress with a lace panel at the front and back. It has a black band around the waist and a rounded neckline. I’ve teamed this with a pair of nude patent court shoes with a rounded toe and stiletto heel and a cute stone coloured bag that can be used both across the body and as a shoulder bag. To accessorize, I’ve picked out a beautiful sterling silver stacking ring from Pandora, which has a white enamel daisy sitting prominently on it. I think this compliments the dress wonderfully, and adds to the very girly feel of the outfit.

Dress / Bag / Shoes / Bracelet

The next outfit I’ve put together is probably my favourite of the 5! It consists of a dramatic black, white and pink printed shift dress from Warehouse with a rounded neckline and lace detail around the waist and across the front. It has an exposed zipper at the back and I’m sure you’ll agree that it looks absolutely stunning. I think this would look great with a pair of black, strappy, open toe boots and a dainty black clutch bag. And I’d finish the look by adding a beautiful silver bracelet from Jools by Jenny Brown. The one I’ve picked out features 10 dainty little flowers, each set with cubic zirconia stones. I love it!!

Playsuit / Bag / Shoes / Ring

I mentioned that I loved this cream floral print playsuit from Quiz, which is made from a crepe style fabric, and has an exposed zipper at the back, and I’m pleased to say that I still do. I actually bought it for my holiday back in May and I’ve worn it loads since then. I think a playsuit is a great alternative to a dress, and they can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. For a wedding, I would team this playsuit with a pair of pink peep toe heels and a coral handbag as they match the colours in the print just perfectly. The heels I’ve shown above also have a gold chain across the ankle strap for added bling, and I’d keep accessories to a minimum, just adding a statement ring like Pandora’s rose gold feather ring with 138 delicate cubic zirconia stones.

Dress / Blazer / Bag / Shoes / Necklace

A while ago I saw vlogging sensation Fleur DeForce wearing this orange hanky hem pleated midi dress from Warehouse, and I remember thinking how pretty it looked. It’s not something I would have picked out had I not seen what it looked like on, but I think it’s just perfect for wedding season. It has a high neck with a tie fastening, tie waist and pleated midi skirt with a hanky hem design, and I believe you could dress it up in so many different ways. I would wear this with a 3/4 sleeve, off-white open front blazer from Quiz, nude strappy sandals and a nude, boxy clutch by Miss KG Hetty which has silver sparkles all over it. Again, I would keep accessories minimal, adding just a necklace from New Look with 5 mint green triangles set inside a row of semi-circles. I haven’t seen anything like this before and would love to add it to my ever growing collection of jewellery.

Top / Trousers / Bag / Shoes

And last but not least I have trouser option for anyone who doesn’t like wearing dresses or playsuits. I went for a pair of elegant-yet-casual white linen trousers from Next, and teamed them with a gorgeous black and white floral print top with a chain around the neckline. It’s lovely and loose fitting as well, so would be perfect for warmer Summer Wedding days or mums-to-be. For shoes, I would go for a pair of simple white heels like these ones from New Look, and I’d finish off the look by carrying a black and mink clutch with a metal bar detail.

Outfit of the Day – Summer Brights

Summer has arrived! I know this because it’s been around 32° in the little town where I live recently. And since the sun has been out, I thought it was time to get my legs out as well … ooh err!

Today I thought I would show you what I’m wearing, as I think it’s perfect for summer, and all the items are from the high street so it’s a super affordable outfit as well. I hope you like it!

Vest Top
As I’m quite aware of my mum tum, I love tops that I can hide it under. This apricot coloured vest top from H&M is perfect for that as it has a rounded hem that ensures it’s covered up! It also has narrow shoulder straps and a V-neck at the front and back. Usually when I buy vest tops they tend to have round necks, so this makes a lovely change.

I wear a lot of grey and black during the autumn and winter months, so when I was shopping for my summer wardrobe I wanted to make sure I incorporated lots of lovely bright colours, and this is by far my favourite of all the ones I’ve picked up. It’s super comfortable as well and I don’t feel at all self conscious when I’m wearing it – winner!!

If you follow me on social media you’ll have probably noticed that I have a lot of kimono’s in my wardrobe. However, they’re all ones that seem to have a lot of material to them. And although this is fine most of the time, when it’s as warm as it is outside at the moment I find they end up sticking to me and making me even hotter than ever.

After weeks of looking for a plain white kimono that I could wear over the apricot vest top, I finally came across this beautiful lightweight one from Boohoo. It’s lovely and comfortable to wear, and I love the style of it. In fact, I’m tempted to get it in a couple of other colours as well!

Denim Shorts
Something I haven’t worn for years is shorts, so I really surprised myself when I found myself picking up this worn looking pair of denim ones from H&M recently! They have a fairly high waist, and are a lot shorter than any I’ve ever worn in my life. I love the frayed detail on the hems, and I actually think they look quite nice on, despite me not having the nicest of legs. I think I probably need to find a shorter, less rounded hem top to wear them with, but I’d still pair them with this one as I like the look I’ve created on the whole.

Fringed Shoulder Bag
I couldn’t resist picking up this brown, fringed shoulder bag while I was in H&M filling up my summer wardrobe. It has a zip closure, 3 inner pockets, and the long shoulder strap (which can be taken off) is long enough to wear across the body. My mum was saying that she thought it looked really small when she saw it, but I can actually get lots of things in it at once. I usually have my sunglasses, purse, phone and some makeup as a minimum, and there’s still space for more.

Brown Fringed Shoulder Bag – H&M – £19.99

Wedges
It’s been a few years since I last bought any wedges, so when I saw this gorgeous pair in Quiz I just knew I had to treat myself to them! They are a beautiful beige colour, and the cork style wedge is covered in a delicate looking lace. I wasn’t sure how much wear I’d get out of them when I first saw them, but I actually wear them with most of my summer outfits, such as playsuits, dresses, jeans and shorts.

Star Charm Necklace Set
I love layering necklaces, so when I saw this set from Forever 21 I just knew I had to get my hands on them! They feature rhinestone-encrusted and cutout star charms in a lariat design. It’s lovely and delicate and I think they look gorgeous with brightly coloured clothes like the ones in this look.

White Gold Rings
The rings I’ve had for years, and both were gifts from Nathan. They are white gold with diamonds and I never take them off. They could do with re-plating though so I may have to bite the bullet and get them done soon!

Nails
And finally my nails are painted in Crabtree & Evelyn’s nail lacquer in ‘Clementine’. I’d never tried Crabtree & Evelyn products until recently when I was invited to an event in one of their stores, but I’m super impressed with the brand. This nail lacquer actually has one of the best formulations I’ve ever used, which is fantastic for a product that costs just £6.00! When I paint my nails with this it takes just one coat to achieve full opacity, and they remain chip free for at least 3-4 days. I got this particular shade in a goody bag and I absolutely love it. It’s perfect for summer!

Lorraine’s High Street Fashion Awards 2015

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now you’ll know that I am a big fan of High Street Fashion, and last Tuesday it was the annual High Street Fashion Awards, hosted by the lovely Lorraine Kelly.

This year there were eight categories in total, and today I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on each of the winners. So why not grab yourself a cuppa and a biccie and make yourself comfortable, and I’ll tell you all about it …

With so many fabulous high street stores being nominated for the ‘Best Affordable Fashion’ award this year I have to admit that I was surprised to see Primark win. It’s not that I don’t think they deserve it … far from it in fact. It’s just that my local store never seems to stock any clothes that I would wear. The bigger shops in the cities do, but it’s disappointing that the smaller ones don’t. I thought that maybe other people would feel the same and that someone else might walk away as the winner. I was personally torn between voting for New Look or Forever 21!

I also like that they stock a lot of brands I love, such as Quiz, Warehouse and Oasis. What’s not to love?!

Next are a store who are really impressing me at the moment, and the wishlist of things I want to buy from there seems to get bigger by the hour. I loved both outfits that the models wore at the High Street Fashion Awards, and I think Next deserved to win. Oh, and a big thumbs up to Lorraine and the team for adding a maternity wear category this year!

Boohoo are one of my favourite online retailers, so I wasn’t at all surprised to see them win the award for being the best! The clothes are always on-trend at great prices, and what you see on screen is what you get, which is a big bonus. I hate it when I order from online retailers and the item(s) arrive and look nothing like they did on my laptop! Boohoo also offer free delivery on a regular basis and if something doesn’t fit they make it easy for you to send it back for a refund or exchange.

If you guys read my review of Ted Baker’s Regency Romance Collection, then you will know that I am a big fan of this brand. In my younger years I shopped at River Island a lot. I would come home most weeks laden with bags full of tops, bottoms, dresses, jewellery, shoes and handbags. Over the years my style (and budget) has changed and I haven’t shopped there much at all, but after seeing the outfits the models wore at the High Street Fashion Awards I think I’ll be heading back in to have a look for holiday outfits next week! Well done River Island.

Tween Fashion Wishlist – Spring/Summer 2015

I love shopping for tween fashion pieces. Well, I love shopping full stop, but there’s something extra special about picking out things for other people.

Stacey’s at that age now where she really appreciates being bought nice things, and together we’ve come up with a little wishlist of 4 outfits that we hope to be able to buy for her very soon. We hope you like it!

The first outfit is made up from 4 pieces from New Look and H&M, and it’s ideal for those cooler summer days as it consists of a sweatshirt, trousers and basketball shoes. We were thinking that this would be the perfect outfit for Stacey to wear whilst travelling to Great Yarmouth later on this month, as we tend to leave quite early in the morning and it’s usually quite cool.

H&M Sweatshirt with Lace – £5.00
The sweatshirt is a lovely, short style with lace detailing on the shoulders. The back section is slightly longer than the front, and the sleeves have sewn-in turn-ups. I think it would go with lots of different bottoms, like the beige trousers we picked out above, denim shorts and even jeans. It could be a real summer staple!

New Look White Roll Sleeve T-Shirt – £4.99
Stacey loves roll sleeve t-shirts, and this cotton one from New Look is a casual fit with a round neck, so I think it would be great to wear underneath the short sweatshirt. And if it warms up and the sweatshirt needs to come off, the tee will look great on it’s own. Stacey also has lots of other things in her wardrobe that would look good with this.

H&M Beige Stretchy Trousers – £9.99
It’s been a long time since I last bought Stacey any beige trousers, but as soon as I saw these stretchy ones from H&M I just knew that we needed to add them to our tween fashion wishlist … they’re just gorgeous! They have 5 pockets on them, zip fly and up until age 12 they have an adjustable elasticated waist. If we only buy one thing from the list this year it just has to be these.

H&M Patterned Basketball Shoes – £6.00
Stacey’s really in to basketball shoes at the moment, and I have to agree that they look fabulous on! I saw these leopard print patterned ones on the H&M website and wasn’t sure if she’d like them or not, but she really does! These particular ones are lace ups and and they have rubber soles. I think they’d be great for wearing this summer, and they’re on sale too!

The second outfit features 4 pieces from Forever 21 and Next, and again this is definitely something for those cooler summer days or nights. You might think we’re crazy for choosing things like these at this time of year, but living in the UK you have to be prepared for pretty much every type of weather!

Forever 21 Bow Print Top – £5.00
I added this gorgeous bow print top to our tween fashion wishlist as it reminded me of one I’d seen and loved from J Crew a few years ago! At £5.00 though, this one is considerably cheaper. The top is made from soft and stretchy heathered cotton jersey and has slightly puffed long sleeves and a gorgeous cascading bow print all over it. It’s just lovely.

Forever 21 Navy Jeggings – £10.00
If there’s one thing that Stacey just has to have in her wardrobe, it’s jeggings! She likes them as they look a lot like jeans, but are more comfortable. We love this navy pair from Forever 21 as they look like they would go with absolutely tonnes of tops that we already have at home, so she would be bound to get a lot of wear out of them. They have a mock fly and front pockets, and proper ones at the back … perfect.

Forever 21 Hooded Denim Jacket – £19.00
We love this denim jacket from Forever 21 as it’s very different to the other jackets that Stacey has in her wardrobe. It features sweater-sleeves that give kids a little extra mobility compared to regular denim sleeves and has buttons down the front. There’s also a hood which is a bonus. After all, how many times have you gone out on a sunny day only for it to start raining unexpectedly?!

Converse Chuck Taylor Hi (Unisex) – from Next – £27.00-£53.00
Stacey’s friend recently passed on a pair of pink converse trainers like these that she had outgrown, and Stacey absolutely loves them, hence her wanting another pair! This time she’s chosen a navy pair, and has also gone for the same style as she knows that they’re super comfy and look great.

The third outfit we’ve picked out for our tween fashion wishlist is a little more grown up than the others, but I think it would suit Stacey fantastically. It features 4 items from BHS, New Look and Accessorize, and is great for the warmer summer nights.

BHS Black Lace Back Tee – £8.00-£10.00
I don’t think you can ever go wrong with black, no matter how old you are. And one of the loveliest black tops for tweens I’ve seen this season is from BHS. It’s plain black at the front, and then the shoulders and back of the garment is covered in a gorgeous black lace. It has short sleeves with turn-up cuffs and a round neck. Very glam!

New Look Blue Authentic Ripped Denim Shorts – £12.99
It wouldn’t be a summer tween fashion wishlist without featuring a pair of ripped denim shorts, and we absolutely adore this pair from New Look. They’re a casual fit with zip and button fly fastening, belt loops and ripped detail down each side. We both agree that they would actually look really nice with most of the tops we’ve mentioned in this post, so they’d be bound to get a lot of wear if we were to buy them.

New Look Black Leather Chelsea Boots – £34.99
Chelsea Boots are still very much in fashion this year, and we love this black leather pair with a gold side buckle. They’re quite pricey compared to the boots I usually buy for Stacey, but I think they compliment this outfit really well, and once she moves to secondary school in September she will probably need a better quality pair than we usually go for anyway. I buy a lot of New Look shoes and they always last for ages.

Accessorize Ornate Cut Out Shield Pendant Necklace – £6.00
I think a more ‘grown up’ outfit most definitely needs some cute accessories to go with it, and we love this simple but elegant necklace with an ornate shield pendant with small resin stones, diamante detailing and intricate cut-out parts. It has a long chain as well, which is perfect for the upcoming festival season!

And the fourth outfit is one that I think is wonderful for sunny days out at the park! It is made up of 3 items from BHS and New Look and has lots of Stacey’s favourite colour in it: PINK!

New Look ‘My Unicorn Made Me Do It’ T-Shirt – £9.99
With Stacey still being as crazy about pink clothing as she was when she was a toddler, I had to make sure that I suggested something that represented that. And what better than this adorable t-shirt from New Look with the slogan ‘My Unicorn Made Me Do It’ on the front?! It ticks loads of boxes for me too as it has roll sleeves, a round neck and gorgeous lace detailing on the shoulders. What more could a mummy and daughter ask for?

BHS Mid Stonewash Denim Dungarees – £15.00-£19.00
Aww, I used to dress my little Stacey in short denim dungarees every single Summer when she was younger, but over the past few years I’ve not found many styles of them that I like. These ones from BHS are right up my street though, and I think they’d look fantastic with the unicorn tee! They feature a rip and repair style on the legs, and have adjustable straps for the perfect fit. We love them.

New Look Pink Double Tongue Lace Up Trainers – £10.99
I know, I know, we’ve already picked out two pairs of trainers similar to these in this post, but these ones were too cute not to feature! They’re from New Look so they’re super affordable and they are pink on the outside and have a floral print lining. Another perfect shoe choice for the summer months. Just gorgeous.

Prom Outfit Ideas 2015

The end of the school year is fast approaching, and I’m sure that many of you will be starting to think about what you’re going to wear to Prom. Today I thought I’d put together 5 outfit ideas that I would love to wear if I were lucky enough to be heading to an event like that this year. As always, I hope you guys will like them!

The first outfit I’ve put together I definitely think screams ‘glamorous event’. It consists of a sequinned rose gold maxi dress with a zig zag pattern from Quiz, which has flattering V-neck and open back for added glam! I then paired it with some super stylish nude heels from Office, with a single strap at the toe and an ankle buckle fastening.

I felt that this look needed minimal accessories, so I chose a matching rose gold envelope clutch from Next and a gorgeous rose gold plated Riva Diamond Hoop Ring from Monica Vinader. I think they compliment the dress beautifully.

Next up, I found this gorgeous cream and black embellished dress from Little Mistress. I just love the bustier detail on it. I would pair this with some black strappy heels that I have in my collection. They’re from New Look and are the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever owned, despite having a 4 inch heel! The first time I ever wore them I was on my feet for a good 3-4 hours and I didn’t complain once … Nathan was really impressed.

Again, I don’t think this dress needs too many accessories to go with it, but I’d add this glittery box clutch from ASOS to jazz it up a little more, and a gold captured heart ring from Pandora.

Black cocktail dresses are perfect for prom as they can make you look instantly slimmer and give you a major confidence boost. This one shoulder chiffon cocktail dress from Cheap DressUK really caught my eye because as well as being absolutely stunning, it is also made-to-order, so you can be sure that it’s a perfect fit! I think a simple, yet elegant pair of strappy sandals like these ones from Office would compliment it wonderfully.

With a dress like this I think it’s alright to go a little more OTT with accessories, so I chose a black clutch bag from Kurt Geiger, which has a ‘dazzle’ effect on the closure, a pair of stunning Riva Diamond Hoop Earrings from Monica Vinader and a statement knot cuff from Jaeger, which is actually made from polished brass!

If you’re after a more affordable outfit for prom than the ones I’ve put together above, I would look no further than high street stores Quiz and New Look. Blue cocktail dresses uk are a great alternative to black, and one that I am loving right now is this little aqua number! It is made from a beautiful mesh fabric, and features a ruffled skirt design. The bodice has an intricate sequin embellishment over the mesh to give it a burst of glamour… this dress is bound to be an eye catcher!

I think that silver goes really well with aqua, so I would add a pair of sparkly court shoes with a cut out detail on them and a silver Czech Diamante Stretch Bracelet, then mix up the colour just a little by carrying a cream pearl flower box clutch.

And last but certainly not least, I went for a maxi panel dress by Wal G. It is actually a mini dress, with long panels down each side so it looks more like a maxi. It’s a very simple, yet clever idea, and it looks really glam! If I was wearing this to an event I would definitely wear a nice pair of nude platform shoes with it, like these ones from boohoo.

To accessorize this dress I went for an elegant looking satin clutch bag from Quiz, a stack of beautiful entwining silver rings and a pair of statement stud earrings with blue crystals, both of which were from Pandora.

Festival Outfit Ideas 2015

Festival season is fast approaching, and if you’ve got Austin City Limits tickets or similar, you may be starting to think about what you’re going to wear. As I love to play dress-up, I thought I’d put together 5 outfit ideas that I would most definitely wear if I were lucky enough to be heading to a festival this year. I hope you like them!

Playsuit | Wedges | Bag | Hair Garland

The first outfit I’ve put together is quite girly and glamorous, and definitely not one to opt for if you know for sure the weather at your chosen festival is going to be mighty horrible! It consists of a cute cream floral print playsuit with a zip back, paired with a stunning pair of cork wedges with a difference … they are covered with lace!

For accessories I felt that less was most definitely more, and thought that a simple cross body bag in a coral shade would compliment it perfectly, and a pearl flower hair garland would give it that whole 1970’s feel that you would expect to see at a festival.

The second outfit I’ve chosen to include in this post is actually one that I’d picked up for my annual holiday to Great Yarmouth this year, but realised would be perfect for festival wear! It consists of a gorgeous coral coloured kimono with a daisy detail all over it and fairly long tassels along the hem, thrown over the top of a plain white vest top and blue denim shorts with a crochet trim.

To finish off the look, I went for a pair of light brown biker boots with studded straps, a stone and pale pink cross body bag and my favourite long necklace, which is designed to look like a vanity mirror.

Maxi | Sandals | Bag | Hair Garland

Maxi dresses are perfect for the festival season, as they originated in the 1970’s. I love this floral one from ASOS, and would team it with a pair of black leather toe post sandals and tasseled skull studded cross body bag. To finish off the look, I think a coral coloured flower hair garland would compliment it perfectly. A simple, yet effective outfit.

Kimono | Vest | Jeans | Wellies | Bag

Since I love kimono’s, I couldn’t resist adding another one into the mix of outfit ideas I came up with today. This one is a black lace fringe one, and it’s from one of my favourite high street clothing retailers, Quiz. I think this one would look fabulous thrown over the top of a plain black vest and worn with a pair of crisp, white ripped skinny jeans!

While looking for some new boots in Topshop last week, I came across this gorgeous pair of black ankle wellies. These would go perfectly with the rest of the outfit as they just look like a regular pair of on-trend boots, and not like wellies at all! And last but not least, I think a black pin studded cross body bag would finish the whole outfit off just brilliantly.

And last but not least we have something a lot less girly than all of my other choices! This final outfit is made up of a cute cropped tee with the words ‘Good Vibes’ (which for some reason made me think of the Beach Boys singing ‘Good Vibrations’ at Glastonbury … has that ever happened?!) Over the top of this I would wear a pair of light blue acid wash dungarees, most likely with one of the straps left undone.

As jelly sandals are back in fashion again this year I think these would go perfectly with this outfit, and I would finish it off with a kaleidoscope print rucksack and a gorgeous yellow leather bracelet from Trollbeads. I love it!

The sexiest day on the calendar has been and gone, but need the fun stop there? Romance shouldn’t be confined to ‘special occasions’ or prepackaged, commercialised days. Perhaps, like me, you’re looking for a little extra inspiration to make the Post Valentine’s lull go off with ‘a bang’ again, so to speak!

And, if you’re anything like me – by that I mean you’re also a fussy underwear shopper – you might find looking for those extra special lingerie items a little frustrating. This year, due to various factors, I’ve been undertaking more of my personal shopping online. It’s not something I’ve done much of in the past, mainly because I really like to see and try on items before purchasing them. But with time constraints, the lack of decent clothing retailers in my area and the sheer variety of goods you can obtain from all over the world via the net, I thought it was about time I took the plunge.

I’ve been searching for something a little more luxurious than my normal bra and pants sets, and in my quest I’ve stumbled upon quite a few items I liked, from a wide range of retailers, all of whom trade and ship both nationally and internationally.
