Every year since the year 2000, the Pantone Color Institute, the global authority on colour, have announced their colour of the year. And this year, for the very first time, they have actually chosen two colours to wear the colour of the year crown. Two colours I think look absolutely stunning together – Rose Quartz and Serenity.
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute says that, when joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, which reflects connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.
I personally think the colour combination is just gorgeous, and they remind me of the beautiful, pinky blue sunsets we so often see when we’re on holiday. There really is something soothing about it, and I totally get where Leatrice Eiseman was coming from when she decided to opt for two colours of the year this year.
As the months have passed by, I’ve noticed more and more gorgeous pieces in baby pinks and blues arriving in the shops, and if money were no object then I would most definitely be redecorating my living room in these gorgeous shades.
Today I thought I would share some of the lovely things I’ve found with you incase you’re planning on doing up your living room yourself and fancy something that’s right on trend this Spring and Summer. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s dive right in!
Corner Sofa
We’re currently looking for a new sofa, as our leather one is looking very old and worn now, and I came across some gorgeous corner sofa’s on the Fishpools website last week. The one I like best is called Memphis, and it’s a lovely grey colour. I think it would look fab in our living room, and I like that it comes with a footstool as well, as I like to sit with my feet up when I’m blogging in an evening. I also love to see pink and grey together, so I think this would be the perfect colour sofa to go with Rose Quartz and Serenity coloured accessories.
Coffee Table
I’ve always wanted a coffee table, but have never found one that looks quite right with our current living room furniture. This grey coffee table from Next however, would look just gorgeous along with the sofa from Fishpools. It is a beautiful grey colour with an oak effect top, and has a nice big drawer and two shelves in the centre. As we seem to collect a hell of a lot of clutter every week (think teenage magazines, daily papers, ridiculous amounts of things I buy), I think something like this would help me manage it a bit better. And it would also give Oscar somewhere other than the floor to sit and play with his toys.
Pink Lounge Chair
I absolutely love the Duna Lounge Chair from Arper, and I think it would look great at the side of a grey sofa. The shell is upholstered in a gorgeous pink canvas, with slim legs crafted from a chrome-finished steel. It has a real modern twist on the traditional papasan chair. I just love it!
Cushion
I love scattered cushions around my living room, and currently have my eye on this one with a Magnolia print from Belk. I think the colours would work perfectly in a Rose Quartz and Serenity living room, and it would look great on both the sofa and the chair I mentioned above.
Rug
I don’t think any living room with wood flooring (like mine) is complete without a nice rug, and I’m loving this light pink and ivory patterned one from Rakuten. It is beautifully textured with an over-scaled Moroccan motif like the ones that graced beautiful Artisan Tile floors for centuries. The rug is available in two sizes – 76cm x 244cm and 152cm x 244cm and is made from 100% wool pile.
Lamp
Neither myself or Nathan are big fans of sitting with the light on at night, and we usually opt for turning on a lamp or two instead. When I spotted this midnight blue tinted glass table lamp at Not on the High Street I just knew I had to include it in this round-up as it would be perfect in a Rose Quartz and Serenity living room (or bedroom for that matter). The beautifully shaped lamp has an ever so subtle tint of blue-grey enhancing the silhoutte with a clear glass plinth base. The lighting flex is neatly enclosed within a polished steel rod that runs straight from the top to the base of the lamp, and the white cotton shade is included. I just love it!
Radio
I love to listen to music, so this VQ Hepburn DAB Radio and Bluetooth Speaker in pale blue would be a wonderful addition to a living room decorated in Rose Quartz and Serenity. It looks very retro, and as well as being able to listen to your favourite radio stations, you can also connect it to your smart phone via bluetooth and access the music that you have stored on there. I love multi-functional items so this is right up my street!
Un Deux Trois Print
I also love hanging prints on the wall, and think this ‘Un Deux Trois’ print would add a slice of French style to my living space. And with it’s delightful pink hue and gorgeous lettering, it would make the perfect addition to a Rose Quartz and Serenity inspired room.
Peonies in Jam Jar
Like Blair Waldorf, another love of mine is peonies, and I’m determined to get my hands on these gorgeous ones in a jam jar from Next at some point in the near future. I’m sure they would look stunning sat on my mantlepiece alongside some other ornaments.
Pink Bowl
I think this pink glass bowl would look lovely sat at the side of the jar of peonies.
Blue Vase
And so would this blue vase …
Shaped Vase
And finally, this shaped vase with a bottleneck in a gorgeous aubergine colour would finish off my collection of ornaments just perfectly. It’s super stylish and would be perfect for displaying my favourite blooms.
And there you have it ladies and gents – my Rose Quartz and Serenity living room inspiration. I think this colour combo is probably one of my favourites from all the years Pantone have been releasing their colour of the year. It’s very ‘me’ and would brighten up my living room no end. I want to go shopping now and buy everything!

just gorgeous. that colour combination makes me just want to sit back and relax!
This is such a gorgeous colour palate. We’re decorating our little one’s nursery at the moment and are using a pastel scheme. I had thought about using pink and blue but decided to go mainly with yellow as we don’t know the baby’s gender. I love the un deux trois print and the blue radio – so pretty.
