London boasts some of the best sights and attractions in the world with monuments that date back centuries, sprawling green parks, and some of the world’s most luxurious hotels. With that being said, if you are planning to visit London for the very first time, it can be tough to decide what to do and where to go.

Here are a few things that will help you achieve the most during your stay and create lifelong memories.
Explore the Culture and the History of the City
It is always good to have a little background information on your travel destination.
London’s history dates back millennia and the city’s monuments and museums are some of the best ways for you to learn and understand its history. As a plus, museums do not charge visitors any entry fee, but you can drop off a donation at your discretion. A win-win!
The Tower of London is a distinct attraction that’s recognised around the world. But, do you know anything about its history?
It was used as a passage to the prisons where prisoners were held before they were beheaded. Grim! Today, visitors can visit this conspicuous tower and learn more about its history and how it has evolved over time. However, unlike the city’s museums, you can expect to pay an entry fee.
Top tip: it is not normally crowded in the morning, making it the best time to visit the Tower.
Indulge in the British Culture
Food defines the culture of London – it’s diverse.

With menus from all over the world littered throughout each borough, you’ll be able to sample food from every continent without leaving the city. For something more traditional, you can enjoy English afternoon tea at Park Grand Lancaster Gate after a busy morning of sightseeing or to help you cool off after spicy Indian cuisine from Borough Market.
Marvel at the Art and Architecture
All over London, you’ll find Instagram-worthy buildings. Here, old meets now, with traditional buildings like the Buckingham Palace mingling with the modern Shard. Hotels are another sight to behold, with the interior décor of famous hotels like the Chilworth London Paddington Hotel offering a traditionally English aesthetic that is sure to delight visitors.
Speaking of interiors, the British Museum is another key attraction to add to your bucket list. With numerous collections of ancient items, statues and artefacts on display throughout the large museum, you’re sure to find something that interests you. Want to meet a mummy? This is your chance!
For your reference, doors open at 10 AM and entry is free.
Shop for Some Souvenirs
A lazy afternoon in London (of course) calls for a shopping spree.

Stroll on-foot to the stores, open-air markets and antique shops where you’ll find thousands of items that you can take home with you, from designer bags to kitschy keychains.
As you can see, London is the perfect travel destination with something for everyone. And, with this cheat sheet, you’ll be able to navigate during your first trip more easily.
