It is difficult to decide who is more excited about the start of the new school year: children or their parents? While children are happy to be united with their school friends, parents will finally get some me-time when the kids are off to school. Scroll down to see how you can prepare to send your children back to school.

Back To Routine

Vacations can mess up your children’s routine in all sorts of ways. It is up to you to get things back on the tracks. For a smooth, hassle-free first day back at school, you may have to start working to set a routine way before the school actually starts.

You can set the bedtime for your younger children. While teens may be too old for the whole bedtime routine, children still look up to you. They follow your example so make sure you set a good one.

The first thing to make sure when your children are heading back to school is that their wardrobe is ready. Keep in mind that you and your children may not see eye to eye when it comes to clothing, especially when you are dealing with teenagers. Your daughter may love the ripped jeans that you absolutely despise!  Luckily, children are relatively easier to deal with when it comes to outfits, but it can’t hurt you to keep their preferences in mind a little as well.

It’s best to shop for trendy clothes that are appropriate for school. If you do it right, back-to-school shopping can be a lot of fun with your children.

School Accessories

Don’t forget about school accessories like lunch boxes, water bottles, and school bags. It is less likely that this stuff survived the last school year but if you still have them, you may want to take them out and clean them thoroughly before the school starts.

In case, you have to shop for them, make sure you buy good quality products. Lunch hall is where all the drama happens at school so lunch accessories may be a bigger deal to your children than you may imagine!

Be A Friend

You need to understand that school especially high-school can be a tough place for some kids. Your children may struggle, especially at the beginning of the school year. Be ready to offer them all your love and support. Make sure they know that they can talk to you about anything and don’t forget to ask them about their day at school!

Me-Time For Yourself

With your children going back to school, you will probably have some me-time on your hands. Make the most of it! Indulge in your favourite activities or plan a brunch with your friends to give yourself a well-deserved break.

Set A Budget

Budget is another important factor to keep in mind when it comes to sending your children back to school because a lot of shopping is involved in the back-to-school routine. It is advisable to set a budget, especially if you have more than one kid.

Remember to follow the budgets when shopping for shoes, clothes, school bags and other accessories to keep the expenses in check. You are so right about high school! My daughters’ school is rampant with drugs and bullying! Luckily my daughter knows she can come to me with anything!
