5 Things I Love About Having a TV Bed

I have to be honest and say that up until a couple of years ago when I treated myself to a Netflix Subscription, I really wasn’t bothered about watching television. I was more interested in settling down with a good book or playing board games with the kids. These days though, I’m more inclined to pick up the remote control when the kids have gone to bed. And I can often be found binge watching my favourite shows until it’s so late I can no longer keep my eyes open!

For quite a long while, I used my laptop to watch television. But I found that sitting on the sofa or in bed for long periods of time with the laptop on my knee triggered my Scoliosis pain. So just before Christmas, I decided to treat myself to a lovely new TV Bed, so I could sit comfortably in bed and watch my favourite shows instead of constantly being in pain. And do you know what? It’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made!

5 Things I Love About Having a TV Bed

Today, I thought I’d share the top 5 things I love about having a TV Bed just in case any of you guys who read my blog have been thinking about buying one too. So, are you sitting (or laying) comfortably? Then let me begin …

01. I CAN HAVE A TV IN MY BEDROOM, BUT IT ISN’T ON SHOW WHEN I’M NOT USING IT

The great thing about TV Beds is that the television set is safely and stylishly stashed away in the storage area at the foot of the bed, and not constantly on show. Whenever I want to watch something on TV, I just release it from the storage unit using the mechanism built into the bed, and then turn it on using the remote as usual. It’s so easy!

02. THE BED FRAME IS SUPER STURDY

In the past, I’ve always been disappointed by how flimsy my bed frames have been. If I’m honest, I don’t think I’ve ever been satisfied with any of the ones I’ve bought. It’s no wonder I was constantly changing them! But when I treated myself to the Elements Wilson Grey Fabric TV Bed with Storage (shown below), I was really impressed to find that the frame was super sturdy. I no longer have to worry that Oscar is going to have an accident when he insists on jumping up and down on it! It looks great too – it’s most definitely the most stylish bed I’ve ever slept in.

03. I CAN SIT WITH MY BACK UP AGAINST THE HEADBOARD WITHOUT BEING IN PAIN

Whenever I watch TV in bed, I tend to sit with my back up against the headboard. And for the first time ever, I can honestly say it doesn’t cause me any pain. This is a big thing for me, as I’ve never been able to sit up in bed for more than 10-15 minutes at a time before now. I think the fact that the headboard is quite thick and is covered in fabric really helps with this. And, of course, the bed is made to sit and watch TV in, so it needs to be comfy. It certainly gets a thumbs up from me!

04. IT’S BIG ENOUGH FOR THE KIDS TO JUMP IN AND WATCH TV WITH ME TOO

Despite only being a double, my TV Bed feels a lot bigger than any of the other beds I’ve had in the past. And the kids very often jump in to watch TV with me too! All 3 of us fit in it comfortably, and we love cuddling up and watching a family movie together. It’s pure bliss.

05. IT HAS LOADS OF STORAGE

One of the things I was pleasantly surprised by when I bought my TV Bed was how much storage it has! One one side, there’s enough room for me to keep things like my DVD player and the kids game consoles, and on the other, there’s a massive drawer where I keep everyone’s bedding. We have an absolute ton of sheets, duvet covers and pillow slips between the lot of us, but the drawer is nowhere near full – that’s how big it is. I love it!

5 Things I Love About Having a TV Bed

And there you have it – 5 things I love about having a TV Bed. As you can tell, I’m over the moon with my purchase, and I would highly recommend looking at them yourself next time you’re on the hunt for a new bed. If someone had told me 5 years ago I’d be raving about something like this, I’d have laughed in their face!

Do you have a TV Bed in your bedroom? Or would you consider buying one in the future?

I had never heard of a TV bed until last night, when I was watching a video on a tiny house where the owner custom-built a bed like this, with the TV in the footboard. I was amazed and intrigued by the idea. These are really cool! And stylish-looking, too!

I used to keep my TV in my room but I ended up never leaving my room, so I’ve moved it into the lounge now. It is nice to snuggle up in bed watching telly though.

My husband would love this! We don’t really watch tv in bed very often but I’m sure he would love this because of its convenience and style.

Ooh what a great place to snuggle up and watch a film. I don’t have a TV in my bedroom purely because I struggle to sleep so I like my room to be very calm and serene but I think when I have kids it would be great, especially for early mornings!! xxx

One thing I would never do is have a TV in the bedroom. I do get why you needed the bed and to have no pain and calm is best.

I think having a TV bed is actual bedroom goals. We don’t have a TV in the bedroom {currently} because my Husband hates it. But I want one – dilemma!

Awesome idea.I like this idea very much because when we watch television to keep a distance from the bed, it doesn’t feel comfortable and flexible. But if the television is attached to the bed, it feels really reliable and enjoyed. Thanks for sharing this idea.

I have never heard of this before! We have a TV in our room, but in the US, I don’t think we even have this. It’s a great idea. Question — what happens if the TV breaks or needs service?
