The Top 5 Benefits of Using Essential Oils to Relieve Stress

There are many ways that people choose to relieve stress after a busy work week or while dealing with a trying time in their life. Relationship troubles, money worries, family dynamics, and other things outside of work can cause a great deal of strife in one’s life. Not to mention the stress that can take place within a workplace, people are struggling to live a healthy lifestyle that omits discourse.

Some choose to turn to alcohol or other drugs to help them cope with the challenges they are facing. Others turn to gambling, shopping, or even abundant food consumption as a way to detract their attention away from the root cause of the issue.

While it is unrealistic to think that you can live life without an ounce of stress, there are healthy ways to cope with overwhelming feelings. Using essential oils is one way that you can immediately feel relief in a manner that is not detrimental to your body or mind. This article will share ways in which essential oils from Botanic Universe can benefit you a great deal.

The Top 5 Benefits of Using Essential Oils to Relieve Stress

1. Relaxation and sleep.
Applying essential oils such as lavender, chamomile, or sandalwood before bedtime is a great way to relax and take the edge off before drifting to sleep. For a more intimate experience, ask your partner to rub your back, neck, and shoulders with a few drops of essential oils infused into a carrier oil. A carrier oil can be coconut oil or something lighter, less potent, but still has the same sensation. Essential oils are not intended to be used like a carrier oil as they are often more costly, have a stronger scent, and react to the skin in a potent manner. By having your partner rub your back, shoulders, or neck with the stress-reducing oil of your choice, you can relax, achieve intimacy with your partner, and prepare yourself for a great night of sleep.

2. Meditation for a clear mind.
When meditating, using oil can help you focus your attention on breathing and clearing your mind. Meditating is known to help relieve stress by naturally calming the body by focusing on the breath.

3. Decrease anxiety.
Frankincense as an essential oil is most often used as a method of aromatherapy. Known to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and fight stress and anxiety, Frankincense can penetrate the blood-brain barrier that allows the essential oil to bring oxygen into the brain while stimulating the limbic area, pineal, and pituitary glands. This will assist with reducing anxiety through inducing feelings of relaxation and peace. To use, you can either diffuse the oil with a diffuser or inhale it by applying a small drop to your skin. When used like this, research has shown the heart rate to lower as well as a reduction in blood pressure.

4. Avoid being mean to your kids, family, and friends.
Reducing your stress and anxiety levels can help with your relationships with family, friends, kids, and your spouse. Often times it is easy to lash out at family members or those closest to you when you have a lot on your mind because they are the people who are closest to you and around you the most. When you relieve stress and anxiety, you will find yourself responding in a calmer manner to things that may typically cause you to respond in anger.

5. Centre yourself. Be in control.
Using essential oils can help you focus on yourself. Practising self-care is powerful and something that we do not do enough of. When you practice self-care, whether it be through the use of essential oils, yoga, or meditation, you are putting yourself first for a brief moment. By doing this on a daily basis, you will begin to feel more in control of your life and thus feel more centred.
