Wood is such a natural part of our lives, and we love how it looks, feels and even smells. Designing floors, roofs, gardens and more out of wood has seen something of an upswing of late as the move towards a more natural and balanced home environment continues to take hold.

So there’s no easy way around this, the cost of wood and timber has seen a pretty stark jump in recent months. This means that if you’re planning on extensive work, like flooring, ceilings or even a whole new home, you’re going to have to plan for it. Luckily, as with all things, some decent planning and budgeting can alleviate some of those stresses for you and if you’re doing a big job, see how much of it you can do over a longer period, instead of all at once, which allow you some breathing space.
So the first consideration when thinking about building with wood, is budget. Know what you want versus what you can realistically, have and get in touch with timber merchants ahead of time to start planning.

There are so many wonderful things that you can do to renovate and update your home this year, that don’t have to cost an arm and a leg. After all, we’ve been through of late, change is literally as good as a holiday it seems.
