4 Hacks For the “Perfect” Face

On a daily basis we are confronted with magazines showing us photos of celebrity women, and all looking seemingly perfect. We are bombarded with images of high cheekbones and luminous skin. Not a blemish or eye bag in sight. However, these images of perfection are not real life. We don’t all have a personal makeup artist who follows us around and touches up our makeup on an hourly basis. We don’t have the ability to airbrush our face and erase our imperfections away, or do we? None of us are perfect. We all have imperfections, blemishes, or dark circles. We all have a part of our face or body that we would like to tweak a little. However, that is what makes us unique. That is what makes us stand out from the person stood next to us. We are different and we should be embracing our imperfections. However, on the other hand there are also times that we might want to look “perfect”. There are times when we want to put our “best” face on. We all spend time on our morning skincare routine because we want to look the best we possibly can and this isn’t just for vanity reasons.

4 Hacks For the “Perfect” Face

Empower Your Face

Makeup can help empower a woman. The whole act of putting on your face is like an actor or actress getting ready backstage. When we are putting on our makeup, we are in reality applying our “warpaint” and as such we are ready to take on anything and everything. Makeup can make us feel more confident. Therefore, on those days when we are feeling less confident makeup can really help to give us a little boost. We really can create the “perfect” face. Here are 4 hacks that will have you looking and feeling amazing in no time.

Hack 1 – Primer Your Way To Perfection

It’s the day of a big event and you wake up and you find that your face is covered with spots, typical! Don’t worry though, it is possible to cover spots, and even tattoos, with the use of a good primer. Many people skip primer as they don’t realise how amazing it is for your skin and makeup routine. A good primer can actually make a massive difference to the whole look of your face. A primer will smooth the skin, even skin tone and minimise fine lines and pores. It’s a fantastic product. Best of all it will help your makeup stay on all day and it should mean that your makeup doesn’t smudge too.

You can get a primer that is perfect for your skin. If you are concerned about the size of your pores or fines, then you will find a primer that targets that specific area. If you have dark circles then you can find a colour targeted primer that will help neutralise the discolouration.

How To Apply Primer

You need to wash your face with a gentle cleanser. You also need to make sure that your hands are clean too. You should then apply your moisturiser. Some people seem to think that primer replaces the need for moisturiser, this is not the case! You still need to apply moisturiser.  Make sure that you leave a couple of minutes for your moisturiser to sink in properly before you apply your primer. You only need a small amount of primer. The amount you use should be no bigger than the size of a pea. You should then apply to your face and neck, using gentle circular motions.  Make sure that you blend it in up to your hairline and round your eyes and on your neck. You should then allow the primer to dry completely before you apply your makeup. The primer should only take a couple of minutes to dry.

Hack 2 – Conceal First

After you have applied your primer you should then apply your concealer. If you are someone that has psoriasis on your face then you will know that this can be difficult to conceal. However, Kim Kardashian suffers from psoriasis and she knows that there is make up for psoriasis on the face, and that it is possible to cover it up. You should apply the concealer first to cover up a skin imperfection like a spot or under eye shadows. You need to make sure that you match the shade to your skin and you don’t want to be too heavy handed with a concealer. Less is more. You should always use it sparingly. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is great for hiding away blemishes, redness and eye-bags.

Hack 3 – Use A Makeup Brush

If you are suffering from red skin (or sunburn) then it could be tempting to apply makeup using your fingers because you want to make sure that everything is covered and you think that using your fingers will mean that you get the best coverage,  wrong! You should apply your makeup using a very gentle brush. You will also want to use a fragrance free concealer if you are suffering from sunburn, otherwise you may find that your concealer just aggravates it some more and it will feel even more tender as a result. Apply your makeup using the brush in a gentle dabbing motion. Do not use a makeup brush like you would a paint brush. That would not be a good look!

Hack 4 – Eye, Eye!

The eyes can be a big giveaway for when we are feeling tired. For a flawless face we need bright, shiny eyes. It is relatively simple to give the illusion of bright and sparkly eyes. You just need to take a thin layer of concealer and wipe it across your eyelids. This will then conceal any redness or veins. No one will now know that you have stayed up late watching Netflix. With this trick you will look like you have had 8 hours sleep. If you apply concealer to your eyelids then you need to make sure that you steer clear from eye shadow. This wouldn’t be a good look as it will stick to the concealer and therefore crease.

With these simple hacks you can face the world feeling confident and looking amazing. But just remember – You are always beautiful and really there is no such thing as the “perfect” face. What makes us “perfect” is that we are all different.

I always mean to try primer and never get around to it. I’m fascinated to read that Kim K has psoriasis on her face. I’m off to check up on what she uses.
