Mothers Day in the UK falls on Sunday, March 26th this year. And I thought it was about time I put together a little compilation of gift ideas that I’m sure any mum would be over the moon to receive. I feel like I always mention the same few stores when putting together a gift guide like this, but this year I’ve managed to include quite a few that I know I haven’t spoken about before. I hope you enjoy it and that it gives you some ideas of what you can buy your own mum this Mothers Day. So, without further ado, let’s get started …
Breadmakers by Panasonic – from £119.99
The first gift I’ve chosen to include in this year’s Mothers Day Gift Guide is a slightly unusual one, but one I think mums who love to bake would really appreciate – a breadmaker! I was lucky enough to receive a Panasonic breadmaker as a gift a couple of years ago, and I’ve used it pretty much every day since I opened it. I find it so much easier than making bread by hand, and the beautiful smell and taste you get from homemade bread beats shop-bought bread every time.
Over the years I’ve made loads of different types of loaves in my breadmaker. There are literally hundreds of fantastic breadmaker recipes to be found online, and I generally use these 3 websites when I’m after trying something new:
Panasonic has lots of different types of breadmakers available, so there’s bound to be something for every type of mum. Mine is a pretty basic one, and when it needs replacing (if it ever needs replacing – I still have a Panasonic CD player that works perfectly that my mum and dad bought me back in 1994), I’d like to get one with a scone mode so I can make even more delicious treats for my little family. Yum!
When I came across this beautiful Cluse La Roche Rose Gold & Marble Watch a couple of weeks ago I just knew I wouldn’t be able to resist adding it to this year’s Mothers Day Gift Guide. I mean, just take a look at it. It’s beautiful!
Perfect for those who want to spend a little more on their mum this year, the Cluse La Roche watch features a genuine white marble dial, produced from a raw stone. Each piece of marble is one of a kind with a veining pattern running through it, which makes each La Roche timepiece entirely unique. The watches also have a 38mm stainless steel case with a brushed rose gold finish and a stylish grey leather strap. If I was able to choose my own Mothers Day present this year then I think this is what I would pick. I just love it!
Pink Luxe Knitted Mermaid Blanket – £27.99
Mermaid blankets are everywhere at the moment, and if your mum likes to snuggle up with a good book or TV show in an evening then they’d be sure to make a great gift for her this Mothers Day! My favourite of all the mermaid blankets I’ve seen so far is the pink luxury fishtail blanket from Bows Boutiques.
The blanket comes in one size and is made from a heavyweight UK manufactured knit, so it’s nice and snug when you pull it on. It has an opening for mum to easily slip her body into, and there are no fiddly fastenings either, which I think makes it appealing. It comes in 3 other colours as well, so if pink isn’t really her shade there’s bound to be another she’d like. I’d love to hear what you guys think of mermaid blankets as I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but they’ve proved to be extremely popular over the last few months. Let me know!
If you’re looking for something a little different to give to your mum this Mothers Day then how about treating her to a personalised print from Dorothy & Theodore? This fantastic artwork is hand drawn to match the individuals you want in the design. So you could choose to feature just mum and dad, the whole family or mum with her grandchildren … the possibilities are endless!
I think I’m going to treat my mum to one of these prints for Mothers Day this year. And have a picture of her, Stacey and Oscar drawn on to it. She’d love that. And what I like about buying from Dorothy & Theodore is that you can actually e-mail them an up-to-date photo of the people you want in the image so you’ll get a great resemblance to them in the finished product.. You don’t have to do this, though – you can describe each person when you order. And the prints come framed as well, which is brilliant! I know lots of mums who would love to receive something like this as a gift, myself included. It just feels so much more personal than a lot of similar products on the market. I just love it!
For mum’s who love burning candles, how about treating her to one of these gorgeous scented candles from Lily Belle? There are 3 different colours and scents to choose from, although the sweet pea and jasmine one pictured above is my absolute favourite, and each candle has a burn time of around 40 hours.
The beautiful glass candle holder can be engraved with a personalised message of up to 42 characters of text over 3 lines. And you can even add a heart on there too. Aww. When the candle is lit, it will illuminate your message, making it an extra special little keepsake for the lucky recipient. And once the candle has burnt down she can simply place a tealight in the bottom of the jar to continue to use it. It’s a truly special little gift that is sure to light up any mum’s life this Mothers Day.
Oliver Bonas Cat and Dog Trinket Dishes – £9.50 each
If your mum is anything like me, she’ll just take her jewellery off at night and scatter it all over her dressing table, regularly resulting in a missing earring or something. Trinket dishes are a great gift to give to someone who does this, as they can hold lots of different things, from necklaces and earrings to bracelets and watches, keeping them nice and safe and tidy.
I absolutely love these pet-themed trinket dishes from Oliver Bonas. They come in two different designs – Pepe the Dog and Saskia the Cat. The dishes are inspired by real life pets, and each design has been printed onto organic-shaped trinket dishes and given a sophisticated style with a metallic finish to hold all of your odds and ends. What’s not to love about them?! I’ll take one of each, please …
Cecily London Dreamcatcher Necklaces –
from £115 from £40
If your mum likes to receive jewellery for Mothers Day then how about treating her to one of these beautiful dreamcatcher necklaces from Cecily London? The necklaces come in silver, gold, and rose gold, and they each have a beautiful little pearl in the centre and hand-carved bone feather detail at the bottom.
The dreamcatcher is available in several different chain styles and lengths, and I think they look simply stunning on. I’m saving up for a silver one myself, to wear to a wedding I’m going to next month. I’m going to be wearing a black dress, and I love how silver jewellery looks with black. I think these necklaces would make a super special gift for mums everywhere this Mothers Day as dreamcatchers are renowned for their symbolism of unity and their power to protect. She’s bound to love them!
Personalised Puff Heart Bracelet – £18.95
Another piece of jewellery I think is just perfect for Mothers Day is this silver plated puff heart bracelet that can be personalised with mums name or an initial. The bangle measures 7.5 inches (19cm) in length and it is super easy to wear and remove as it can just be slipped on and off the wrist when required.
The main part of the bangle has two charms on it – one is a silver plated flat heart charm – which is the one that can be engraved. And the other is a silver plated puff charm. There are also two silver beads on either side of the charms. It’s a really beautiful bracelet that would be sure to look lovely, and it’s one of my favourite styles as even those of us with tiny wrists can wear them without the fear of losing them due to them being able to be ‘pinched’ closed a little.
Artificial Orchids in Pots – from £18
This will be the 7th Mothers Day Gift Guide I’ve written since I started blogging back in 2012, and if you’ve been reading for a while, you’ll notice that I very rarely suggest buying flowers for a special occasion. Now, this isn’t because I don’t think flowers make a great gift. They really do. It’s just that I always feel sad when they die and I have to throw them away, and I’m sure other mums must feel the same way about them. And that’s why I much prefer to give someone an artificial plant as a gift. I mean, if they’re looked after properly, artificial plants have the potential to last forever!
Orchids are one of my favourite plants, but real ones require a lot of special care and attention. So these artificial ones in pots from Next are perfect for having around the home instead. They come in 4 different sizes, and look and feel just like the real thing! I have one of these sat on my dining room table at the moment and it looks absolutely stunning. If your mum enjoys plants and flowers she’s sure to love these. Prices start at just £18 for a single stem in a ceramic pot and they go up to £150 for the extra large pot, which is set inside a beautifully finished mercury glass bowl. I just love them!
And last but certainly not least, I’ve chosen to include this box of goodies from Latest in Beauty, which is inspired by the release of Disney’s most anticipated movie of the year : Beauty & the Beast. The box costs £20 to purchase, but has over £80 worth of products inspired by the movie inside.
I won’t go into too much detail on this in my gift guide, as I’ve actually treated myself to one of these boxes and want to write a full review up within the next couple of weeks, but as you can see from the image above, it contains 7 different beauty products, all concealed in a box that’s made to look like a book. Clever huh?
What’s in the box?
- Burt’s Bees Lipstick in the shade Blush Basin or Sunset Cruise
- L’Occitane Roses et Reines Hand & Nail Cream
- Soigné Betteraves Rouges Nail Polish
- Latest in Beauty Gold Compact Mirror with Rose Detail
- Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage
- Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo
- Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet
As I’m a big fan of French beauty products this box is right up my street. And if your mum loves her beauty products then she’s sure to love it too. It’s a box that’s truly fit for a Queen.
And there you have it – my Mothers Day Gift Guide for 2017. I hope you enjoyed looking through the items I picked out as much as I enjoyed putting the list together.
So, what do you guys think of the things I chose? Would you buy your mum anything from my list?
Don’t forget to let me know in the comments below!
Thanks for reading guys. And happy shopping!
