This coffee machine review was originally published on 18th December 2014, but I wanted to re-publish it for you today because I know that lots of you are currently on the lookout for a space saving, coffee making gadget!
Ever since Nathan and I moved in together I’ve wanted a coffee machine as I absolutely love drinking lattes and espresso’s, but never think the instant versions taste that great. But due to the lack of spare worktop space in our kitchen though, I never thought it would be possible. Then I was kindly asked if I would like to try the Tassimo Vivy – a coffee machine from Bosch, designed to fit into kitchens with very little space. And as you can imagine, I just had to say yes!
The Tassimo Vivy measures just 17cm in width and is available in two colours – Real Black and Snow White. The machine slides easily into any hard to fit space, and we found the perfect spot at ours to be right next to the kettle. Perfect. It really doesn’t take up a lot of room and I love how sleek and stylish it looks.
One of the things I was most worried about when the machine first arrived was that it would be super difficult to use and I’m not going to lie, it did take me a couple of attempts to figure it out. But it’s actually not that hard at all! You basically fill up the water tank on the left hand side, pop your cup on the stand at the front and then lift up the top to insert your chosen drink (the machine takes special T-Discs which I’ll tell you more about in a second) then press the button to set it off.
The Tassimo Vivy is easy to clean and it has an adjustable cup stand at the front, so it should fit most cup sizes. I think this is a fab feature as we all have our own special mugs and cups in all different shapes and sizes in our house!
The machine also has a low energy consumption and you don’t have to wait for it to heat up, which makes it perfect for those early morning coffees. I even have time to fill up Nathan’s travel mug before he leaves for work in a morning – something I always failed at before as I would boil the kettle then walk away and forget all about it!! Oops.
As I mentioned before, the Tassimo Vivy uses special T-Discs to make the drinks. These are really easy to get hold of. Even my local supermarket have them in and they hardly ever stock anything of any use to me! There’s a wide variety of drinks available in the T-Discs such as tea, coffee and hot chocolate, as well as many other speciality drinks, all from well known brands like Costa, Twinings and Cadbury. There truly is something for everyone. And compared to the coffee machines that my friends and family have, the Tassimo Vivy is very quiet and only makes a little bit of noise whilst it’s making the drinks.
So far I have tried Costa Americano, Cadbury Hot Chocolate, Oreo Hot Chocolate, Costa Latte and Twinings English Breakfast Tea, and they are all absolutely delicious. I definitely want to try one of the espresso ones next!
It’s safe to say we all love our Tassimo Vivy (I can even let Stacey make me a cup of tea using it without having to worry that she’s going to spill water everywhere from the kettle – whoop) and if you’re after a coffee machine that is lovely and compact then I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. It would even make a fab present for a loved one, and it most definitely gets a thumbs up from me!
Which one would you most like to try?
